The two have joined forces in conjunction with the University of South Carolina and University of Maryland football teams to recognize the sacrifices made by those who have served and those that continue to serve in our nation's Armed Forces.

On November 14, in honor of our troops, the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and University of Maryland Terrapins will wear specially designed head-to-toe uniforms for their Game Day match-ups versus the University of Florida Gators and Virginia Tech Hokies respectively.

The teams will take the field in black and desert camouflage uniforms featuring the Wounded Warrior Project logo. The uniforms will also have a unique twist; a core value embellishment -- Duty, Honor, Courage, Commitment, Integrity, Country, and Service -- will replace the players' last name on the back of each jersey.

Both games will be nationally televised. Wounded Warrior Project and Under Armour will create special make-up products for fans to wear on game day to show their support. The gear will be sold in college book stores, local military base exchanges, and online at www.underarmour.com. A percentage of the fan gear proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. Additionally, a select number of game jerseys will be auctioned off after the game on the University websites and 100%of the proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

"Partnering with an organization such as the Wounded Warrior Project allows Under Armour a unique opportunity to connect with college football fans and our athletes on a whole new level, while also supporting the overall mission of the Wounded Warrior Project -- to build public awareness and help support injured service men and women and their families," said Kevin Plank, founderand CEO of Under Armour.

"We will continue to both honor and empower those who have been wounded and we are proud to support our troops." "We are extremely grateful to Under Armour and their partners, to their dedicated employees that believe in our mission, and of course to both universities and their athletic programs for this unique opportunity," said Steven Nardizzi, executive director of the Wounded Warrior Project.

"The incredible design of these uniforms, especially the use of warrior character traits in place of the athletes' names on the game jerseys, and the overall visibility of these games, will generate excitement and greatly increase public awareness of our organization and the men and women we are privileged to serve."

About Under Armour, Inc.Under Armour® (NYSE: UA) is a leading developer, marketer, and distributor of branded performance apparel, footwear, and accessories. Status With Team Uncertain

Offensive Lineman Clifton Geathers was arrested in an incident at local night club (Club ICE) on Lady Street in Columbia, SC early Sunday morning. Geathers is charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Sources say Geathers was attempting to re-enter the night club to retrieve his cell phone that he had mistakenly left inside. It was at that time a scuffle broke out between Geathers and the Club ICE Security. Police were called to the scene where they too struggled with Geathers in an effort to detain him. After Geathers had been detained officers said that they smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Geathers. Geathers was also using a large amount of profanity and was slurring many of his words while at the scene of his arrest.

After Geathers was detained, he was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn detention center where he was held for approxiamately 5 1/2 hours.

It is the policy of The University of South Carolina that athletes who are arrested, are immediately suspended and remain as such until the case has been resolved. Coach Spurrier nor the University has issued a public statement, as of yet, declaring what Geather's future status may be with the team.

Geathers was expected to play a large role for the Gamecocks on the defensive side of the ball this year. In fact, Geathers was listed as one of the first team defensive ends on the defensive line at the time of his arrest. Geathers had been named the most improved defensive end coming out of spring practice earlier this year. It is speculated that his replacement for any games that he would miss would be redshirt freshman Devin Taylor. Taylor, by some accounts had been providing strong competition for Geathers, and was seriously challenging him for the 1st team position at defensive end.

Geathers logged significant minutes for the Gamecocks last year, appearing in 13 games overall, making 29 tackles and being credited with 1 sack.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://scsportssourceblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/usc-lineman-arrested-status-with-team.html' title='USC Lineman Arrested. Hills decision to quit the team comes on the heels of the South Carolina Coaching staff moving him to the defensive side of the ball as of yesterday's practice.

The expectation was that Hills would contribute significant minutes this year with USC's WR corp being so young and inexperienced. However, some of the new recruits such as Alshon Jeffery, Demario Bennett, and Tori Gurley have exceeded expectations and risen up the depth chart very quickly. The fact that these young and very talented receivers have progressed faster than was expected combined, Hills inconsistent career to date, and the coaches promise to put the best players on the field seemed to lead to Hills decision today to look for greener pastures elsewhere.

Stay tuned to SC Sports Source.Com for all the latest updates concerning this situation.

The Carolina Lady Anglers

The Carolina Lady Anglers organization is an all women's organization who through their love of salt water fishing strive to find a cure for breast cancer. I recently had the opportunity to visit with these ladies at one of their monthly meetings which they hold every first Wednesday of every month at the Harbor View restaraunt in Charleston, SC.

At this meeting I had the opportunity to ask a few questions about their organization and how they go about accomplishing their fund raising goals in an effort to contribute to the fight against breast cancer.

The main fund raising component of their organization is a summer fishing tournament that they hold every year. They bring in money through a variety of different ways at this event with things such as: tournament entry fees, merchandise sales, sponsorships, raffles, donations, and etc. Each year they are able to raise thousands of dollars that are used soley in helping to fight breast cancer in the state of South Carolina.

Now although these ladies are serious about their efforts to help in the fight against breast cancer, they are also very dedicated to having a good time as a group of women who enjoy salt water fishing and all the fun things that come along with sport. They even have salt water fishing classes to help educate any new members who might not be familiar with salt water fishing but have a desire to learn and want to participate.

I encourage you to visit their website, and to learn more about these ladies and their organization. I enjoy traveling the state and meeting with groups and organization like the Carolina Lady Anglers, because every time I do i'm never disappointed and truly amazed at the great love and passion people have for South Carolina sports and recreation. Not only that, but the way these folks use that passion, love, and these sports and recreational activities as vehicles for promoting so many good things in communities all around the state.

Look for a more in depth article at SC Sports Source.Com in the near future.
